About the Event
What You Will Learn
Join Artist Emily Vanns in an all day Lino printing workshop. In this workshop you will learn about the process of creating your own lino prints, from choosing and tracing a design, to preparing, carving and inking your lino plates.
The theme of the workshop will be "Pattern, Shape & Colour". We will be exploring different ways of using these elements to create your very own unique prints. We will be looking at different techniques to create patterns, working together to choose which way will best bring your ideas to life. These will include tessellation, the puzzle method and stamps.
At the end of the workshop you will take home the lino plates that you have carved and the artworks that you have printed.
What to bring
Everything you need for the workshop will be provided including aprons but please wear something you don’t mind getting dirty or inky. Please be aware that lino printing involves the use of sharp tools.
Feel free to bring along some inspiration, although plenty of books and images will be around on the day to get your creative juices flowing!
Think about what inspires you...
- Nature or Architecture?
- Organic patterns or geometric shapes?
- Do you have a favourite artist that uses patterns for example, Matisse, Orla Kiely or William Morris?
- Do you like repeat patterns or prefer something abstract?
- Something ornate and delicate, or bold and modern?
